Sustainable Lifestyle Challenge

Inspiring young people (aged 8-12) to look at the way they live and challenge them to change their habits to create a more sustainable lifestyle for themselves.

How it works

1. Planning

We discuss the particular needs and challenges of your school, and offer workshops on Waste and Lunchboxes, Fairtrade, Ecological Footprints, Energy or Climate Change. You decide which activity we will do for our Main Visit.

2. Main Visit: Setting the Challenge

Following the one hour workshops on the chosen topic we introduce the Lifestyle Contract where children are invited to do 5 simple actions for a month:

eg: I will turn off the lights when I leave the room. I will turn off the taps while I clean my teeth etc.

Pupils are also invited to create their own additional pledges either personally or as a class.

Pupils take contracts home and tick the pledges daily when they have completed the action.

3. Follow-up Visit: From School to Home

After a month we deliver a follow up workshop, during which the class discusses what impact it made on their family and which pledge in particular will become a habit.

Rewards

Those who have completed the month will be awarded Certificates. Made out of recycled paper of course!
